We Faustkateers worked unceasingly to get the funding and permitting that would have allowed us to renovate the purple cinder block building next door to our beloved rat hole. When the economy collapsed we reluctantly decided that our original renovation plans had become untenable. Fortuitously, the other half of the building which currently houses our current Clubhouse became available. Thanks to our Railroad Square landlords, we can now expand into the large and intriguing area with which we share a back wall and a back yard. In doing so, we will gain two-and- a-half times more space than we presently have—exactly enough space to fulfill our dreams for the Mickee Faust Academy for the REALLY Dramatic Arts.
Our new space will have everything we want—disabled accessibility, improved and expanded performance space, separate rehearsal areas, costume storage and climate control—yet at a fraction of the cost. As we worked on expansion, we were never able to accept the idea of losing our dear old Clubhouse, with its rich history, funky back yard, and outdoor stage. This additional space in our current building actually seems better suited to our rodent roots and needs. We will begin to occupy this space by the end of December and will start our clean-up and renovations immediately. As they say in the business world, we are moving the cheese.
Give us a crumb, a slice, a wedge of cheese and the next time you come to our show, you can proudly point to your name and cheese-giving level in the event program.
